Hamster Corporation has struck gold once again with their latest Arcade Archives offering, bringing the version of Tekken that we know and love from the arcade hall into our homes on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch 2. Tomorrow, June 25th 2026, you'll be able to travel back over three decades to the very first time Tekken release with 'Arcade Archives 2: Tekken', though this time you won't have to save up a bunch of coins or queue up to play it.

You've all played Tekken on the PS1, right? Some of you might have only ever played the original arcade game as part of Tekken 5 on PS2, but it all began on an arcade cabinet back in 1994. For many, this will be the first time that they get to experience the series beginnings, the title that made its mark thanks to the Namco System 11 32-bit arcade system board.

According to VGC, this is the first title to use the Namco System 11 featured on Arcade Archives. It's also the first game in the archives that will only appear on current-gen consoles. Just like the original game, the 2-player multiplayer mode is local play only, whereas other Arcade Archives games have boasted online multiplayer. To be honest, I like this touch - it keeps things feeling just as they did back in the day and gets us as close to that original experience as possible.

Players will, however, be able to make the most of modes where they can keep playing until they reach a 'Game Over' screen, or a mode where they have to get the highest score possible within a time limit. There will also be a Time Attack mode for the Speedrunning fans and variable rate refresh support to further recreate that feeling of being in the arcade hall.

Arcade Archives 2: Tekken will cost $16.99, and it comes out tomorrow!
