Jnmartin has been a little quiet recently, but not because they've been resting on their laurels. They've been working incredibly hard on getting a new title running on Dreamcast - Sonic R.
Some of the Dreamcast ports we've covered, like Star Fox 64, have taken no time at all and have been relatively straightforward, but not Sonic R. According to Dreamcast aficionado Falco Girgis, jnmartin has had to start completely from scratch with this port. Without a pre-existing codebase that has already been decompiled, they have had to set about decompiling the entire codebase of the PC version of the game from the ground up.
Soooooo... anyone wondering wtf our N64-to-Dreamcast port master, jnmartin, has been up to lately? Well, look no further than this gameplay footage of the next game he's planning to port to the Sega Dreamcast... EVERYBODY SUPER SONIC RACING!!!! IT'S SONIC R!!!

Jnmartin's decomped version of Sonic R is currently running on MacOS natively. There are naturally still a few glitches to sort out, but from what we're looking at, and knowing how thorough jnmartin is with their work, it's going to run brilliantly.
The next step is bringing the whole build onto the Dreamcast, and jnmartin has discussed bringing network play into the source material so that we can play online with each other, potentially using the Dream Color Plus when we finally get hold of one!
