It's been a Retroid-heavy week here at Retro Dodo thus far, but for very good reason. They've been drip-feeding new information about their new Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite handhelds every single day to get us excited for the new release, and now they've shown off a new peripheral designed to pair with both consoles, which gives you even more grip when playing, and it looks like it'll make things more comfortable when using a stylus too.

Here's the grip, and it looks very ergonomic. I don't even need to zoom in on the case to see the textured pattern on the grips – they're going to make things much safer when I'm holding the console with one hand and messing around with a stylus.

Speaking of which, the case has the perfect built-in slot for holding a stylus in it. I know the original DS had a slot for the stylus to go in, but I used to lose that little thing everywhere. At least this stretch stylus looks will feel more like a pen in my hand; it looks pretty sturdy, and I like the increased size instead of messing around with a tiny bit of plastic.

What I love about this little trailer is having the chance to see games running on the Pocket Duo Lite too. Kirby: Power Paintbrush running on MelonDS works great, and I feel very confident about the abilities of the Lite after seeing Ocarina of Time 3DS running smoothly on Azahar at 2x resolution.

As I've said in my previous articles, all I want the Pocket Duo Lite to do is play DS and 3DS games well, so if it can nail that, I'm happy. If you want a console that does more than that, then the higher-tier Pocket Duo will be your best bet.

I love the idea of the grip, and the fact that you can get it for both consoles means you can have that extra bit of comfort, whichever design you buy. Head to Retroid's website to keep an eye out for when they go on sale, alongside screen protectors and cases!

Check out the full specs for the Duo and the Duo Lite to see what's underneath the hood on both of these handhelds.
