I recently did a deep dive into Glover for one of our Retro Dodo originals, and I really focused on how niche and ahead of its time the ball mechanic was back in the N64 days. It was such a strange notion and one that we've not really seen much before, but the developers of Presto!, London-based outfit Circus Cat Studios, have decided to bring it back in a new N64-esque title on Steam.

I'm all for new N64 games, and I'm really excited to try this out, but for fans of Glover, it's just Glover with a new character, a character who looks a lot like the Big Top guy from Mario Party 8 with the hat that fires out coins crossed with King Dedede. It's set in a circus environment with a character on a rolling ball, and you have to collect stars and cores to restore the world. It also looks a lot like Spyro the Dragon too, which makes it doubly nostalgic for anyone who grew up in the 90s.

Presto! is a single-player game releasing in 2028, but it's in active playtest mode now on Steam for anyone who wants to dive in and check it out. It's made in Unity 3D and has all of those same collecting and fun elements that you'll remember from games like Glover, Banjo-Kazooie, Mystical Ninja starring Goeman, and many more.

The game is set to come with a CRT TV Filter with built-in presets, meaning you can play just like 'the good old days' or with a crisp new resolution for modern TVs. If you're new to retro games and have been messing around with the likes of the Analogue 3D and the M64, then perhaps you're getting more into the grainy feel of the old TVs that we loved so much back in the day and end up having that retro feel instead (and you'll instantly win our respect for it).

According to the information provided by the devs, it'll take around 20 hours to fully complete the game. With a price point of £14.99, $17.99, that's a good amount of time with enough gameplay to warrant you parting with the cash. The graphics are great too, and I wouldn't be surprised if ModRetro didn't get in touch to put this on the M64 as an original game - it does say it's coming to consoles as well as Steam, so why not make it available on cartridge too!
