I loved the Wii, as did pretty much every other gamer on the planet. I can remember bunking off school to go and buy it from the nearest city that had stock at 16 years old, taking a bus and two trains to bring home my white box with Wii Sports and playing Wii Tennis for the rest of the day with my mates. The Wiimote was, and still is, one of the most accessible controllers that's ever been made, and one modder has revived it for use with the Nintendo Switch.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Switch 2 Joycons. They're a great invention and have much more advanced technology inside them than the Wiimotes did, but they don't feel as much like you're waving a magic wand around when you're playing games. Kouzex has sorted that, however, tearing down Wiimotes and Joycons and wiring them together, all while making his new creation fit inside a Wiimote shell that can actually attach to your Switch 2!

So what do we call this new creation? Wiijoys? Magnetic Joymotes? It's definitely been a cool but demanding project for Kouzex to finish, and one that probably caused them quite a headache on a number of occasions. This isn't something that you would take on if you were new to modding, and like WeskMods going through tonnes of old Wii's to make his Kawaii, I can imagine Kouzex had to take a tonne of Wiimotes apart to finally get this right.

Their creation provides the perfect way to play Wii games like Super Mario Galaxy on the Switch 2, and if Nintendo continues adding its back catalogue to Nintendo Switch Online and makes the Wii the next console to appear on the platform, then having a magnetic controller with Wii-esque features would be awesome. It's nice to see the B buttons working perfectly as well as all the other buttons and triggers being wired up properly, as well as Kouzex saying that 'no Switch 2 Joycons were harmed in the making of this video'. I mean, they're expensive enough, so I can see why!
Using an original Wiimote casing definitely made this harder, and while Kouzex could have custom-made a case for everything to fit in, I love the fact that it looks like, and essentially still is, original hardware. The video above is a great watch, so kick back and check out how Kouzex turned his only Switch 2 Joycons into this new creation! There's no going back now; you're a Wii Switch 2 player forever now!
