Many of you are likely not aware of Tomindo, and nor was I a few weeks ago. They were hidden deep in the trenches of Instagram, behind hours of endless scrolling. One image caught my attention, and now I am officially a Tomindo addict with an array of their collectable cars in my collection.
Tomindo creates custom-made collectable cars based on retro gaming IP, handmade and shipped from Indonesia, where the car enthusiast creators live. They create cars based on Pokemon, Street Fighter, GAME BOY, Famicom and many, many more, but one new collectable car is on its way, and fans of blue hedgehogs will be happy to see it.
Their most famous toy cards are based on trucks, with custom paintwork, and a box that opens up to reveal levels, or a moment from iconic video games. The latest addition to their collection is the new Sonic The Hedgehog toy truck, based on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive game that we're all very familiar with.
Tomindo have made around 50 of these, so they're incredibly limited and cost 900,000 Indonesian rupiah, which is equivalent to $50/£40. Pricey, agreed, but worthy of any toy car or retro gaming collection, especially if you are a Hot Wheels collector that loves Sonic.
To order these, it isn't as simple as purchasing them from a website, due to the fact that Tomido are still so small; you have to DM them via Instagram or message them on WhatsApp to secure an order, which they then send an invoice over to be paid. It's a little sketchy, I'll admit, and I hope they move to an official website soon, but I can confirm it's legit, because my order arrived a few days ago.
It's worth noting that Tomindo go over the top with their packaging too, and this time they're focusing on the iconic SEGA Genesis packaging to pair with your toy truck, because we all know collectors like to display the box too. It comes well protected in plastic packaging and a protective case too! I hope to see a Tails and Sonic version in the future! Fingers crossed.
