We've been playing close attention to the AIR Y after Mangmi announced that they were 'redefining the vertical Android handled'. I'm a big fan of Mangmi products, giving the Mangmi Air X a stellar review. The Air Y is a beautiful looking piece of kit, and now that we've seen some footage of classics from the PS1 and PSP working on there, were even more excited to get our hands on it.
We managed to get PS2 games working on the Air X, and with the Air Y using the same processor, we can expect similar results. The Air Y Pro uses the same processor as the Pocket Max, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 CPU, which will definitely be able to play PS2 titles. Still, the video Mangmi have posted seems to stick to older gen consoles like the PS1, Dreamcast, PSP, and GBA .
From what I've seen, it looks stunning. Tomb Raider looks amazing on here, and the likes of Crazy Taxi and Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night look fantastic too. I was always really happy with the display on the Air X, and the 4.2" touch display on the Air Y looks like it could cement Mangmi as the company that knock Trimui out of the water. As you can imagine, NES and SNES games are going to look great in here, as will GBA games - I can't wait to play FireRed on here!
PSP emulation looks good too, with there only being a thin black border implemented to accommodate the difference in screen size. Ghost Of Sparta ran well on the Air X, so I'm not surprised to see it running well on the Air Y too. You'll be able to upscale further with the added processing power on the Air Y Pro too.
