Less than 48 hours after I wrote about a list of new Pokémon sets that we're supposed to be getting this year leaking, we've now got even more leaks dropping, this time of the covers of three of those sets. Honestly, who is in charge of security over at LEGO, because I think they need to find a new career!
In all seriousness, mistakes do happen. Shops get advanced images and hit 'publish' ahead of time. Sometimes, people get hold of images and just get too excited that they break embargo. Either way, I'm not mad that we know what three of the sets (four, including Arcanine) look like now. Unlike the adult collectors' sets, these are very much for children to play with too and feature Smart Brick technology for enhanced play.
Box images for the following sets have been leaked:
- #71577 - Charmander & Geodude's Cavern Clash
- #72159 - Jigglypuff Concert
- #72166 - Cubone & Gengar's Spooky Showdown

Let's start with Geodude & Charmander. This set was supposedly going to be called 'Charmander's Wild Encounter with Geodude', which admittedly doesn't have that good of a ring to it. 'Cavern Clash' sounds like it could be the perfect place for these two to have a Pokémon Battle, although they both look pretty happy and unlikely to cause any trouble right now.

I'm not being funny, but wouldn't a Jigglypuff concert just put everyone to sleep? This set looks very simple and is apparently only 88 pieces. Let's hope LEGO doesn't price it at something ridiculous like $55. I can see this one costing $14.99 at most, or I'm hopeful for that at any rate.

Always save the best till last, right? I was a huge fan of Pokémon Tower on Pokémon Red, so it should be no surprise that I'm most excited about Cubone and Gengar's Spooky Showdown, previously thought to have been titled the 'Ghost Challenge'. The box art for this set is amazing too, and I'm really excited to see what the Gengar Smart Brick does. I wonder if we'll be able to see a little LEGO Cubone without his helmet too?
These sets are set to drop in August this year. I don't have any information on pricing or a concrete date as of yet, but as the Arcanine LEGO set is set to ship on August 1st, it could be safe to guess that these other sets would be available on that date too. As always, keep your eyes open for more information as I get it!
