When the going gets rough, you’re going to need to know how to tackle in Mario Strikers Battle League!

Listen, Mario Strikers isn’t a walk in the park. It’s a lethal dog-eat-dog game where anything goes. There’s no referee to jump in with a red card when things get out of hand.

And yes, players get electrocuted on the side of the pitch when they’re thrown into the barriers.

Told you it was brutal!

If you want to get the ball of your opponents, you’re going to have to play dirty. There’s no point waiting for the ball to come for you; it’s time to get physical with some big bruisers and muscle gear!

That’s enough waffling; let’s check out how to tackle in Mario Strikers Battle League and lay the smackdown on the competition.

How To Tackle In Mario Strikers Battle League On Nintendo Switch

How To Tackle In Mario Strikers Battle League - Mario tackling Yoshi

Players can tackle in Mario Strikers Battle League by pressing the Y-button near opponents.

By pressing the Y-button, characters will fly forward and either kick, punch, or nudge players out of the way, hopefully getting the ball in the process.

These quick tackles aren’t easy to spot and can often come as a surprise, so keep your eyes on the prize!

Depending on how heavy your character is, a quick press can sometimes be enough to get the ball from an opposing player.

Check out the segment at the end of this article on the heaviest players on the pitch, but not before reading about how to charge those tackles for maximum effect.

How To Pull Off Perfect Tackles In Mario Strikers Battle League

By holding down the Y-button, players can pull off perfect tackles in Mario Strikers Battle League.

Holding down Y brings up two arrows in front of the player. By waiting until both arrows are bold and filled with colour, players will lunge forward and blast the player with the ball into next week.

Sometimes, this method is enough for smaller players to get the ball off larger bruisers such as the motley crew below.

Team Tackling

If you’re a little guy like Toad trying to go up against Bowser, then pulling off a team tackle might be a better idea.

Got a bigger player on your tea? You can direct a tackle towards them to throw them into the player with the ball instead.

If I’m going to be honest, I don’t use this that often and often forget all about it, but it can also be a good little tactic for getting a player across the field quickly too!
