8BitDo Announce Their Retro R8 NES Inspired Mouse

If you're a regular reader here at Retro Dodo, you'll know that we use 8BitDo mechanical keyboards to write our articles on. There's just something incredibly nostalgic about having that retro 'thunk' sound when hitting the keys, and as well as having useful dials and a retro aesthetic, they're incredibly comfortable to use when writing for 8 hours a day. Well, now they've released a NES-themed version of their R8 Mouse range to add an extra slice of nerdiness to our desks.

While I use the Sega Saturn Edition keyboard, Brandon has been rocking his NES-inspired keyboard for a few years now. This Retro R8 NES mouse is the perfect companion to it, with grey sides, red side buttons, and that same 'off-white' plastic shell that the original NES had.

The shape might look familiar if you've already checked out the article we did on the Xbox-themed mouse 8BitDo brought out last year. The Retro R8 mice all come with a charging dock that the mouse sits on to charge, and which also extends its wireless signal. It can be used whether you're left or right-handed and can either give 100 hours of use via Bluetooth or between 26 to 105 hours in 2.4GHz mode, which sounds very vague if you ask me. Still, 100 hours for Bluetooth is more than enough, especially when you can put it back on its charging dock straight away!

You can put your pre-orders in on Amazon now, with orders shipping on June 27th, 2025.
