If you love Pokémon ROM hacks as much as we do here at Dodo, then you've probably been waiting with bated breath for the arrival of Pokémon Monomyth like we have. It's been six years in the making, and it's finally here. A new adventure in the new region of Athanto, boasting over 75 hours of gameplay, all in the classic GBA-era graphical style. What's not to love?
Monomyth has finally arrived, with 360 new and returning Pokémon to catch through the game. There's a brand new storyline and an impressive 200 new tracks to go with all of the new areas of Athanto, as well as thousands of different coat variations for the wild Pokémon you come across on your travels. It's one of those ROM hacks where you find a new secret around every corner, giving you an adventure that you can really sink your teeth and all of your spare time into.

What I love about the ROM hacking community is that they know how much we love side-quests. Monomyth feels so much more full than the mainline games because of its inclusion of extra side quests that you can take on to fully immerse yourself in Athanto. Plus, with Contest Hall, Trainer Hill, and Battle Frontier, you'll be able to spend a good chunk of time honing your battle techniques to find the perfect team and strategies.
I really like that there's a multiplayer option in this game too - link cable trading is what Pokémon is all about, and being able to hook up with a friend, tethered on a park bench or across the bar at the pub. I wanna see that again instead of people doomscrolling.
To get up and running with Pokémon Monomyth, you'll need your own legally acquired version of Pokémon Emerald to patch it onto. Head to the Pokémon Monomyth website to download the patch and get started!
