If you're into your modding, then you'll no doubt know all about Wesk Mods and his miniature creations. We covered the world's smallest Wii, the Kawaii, and had a chat with Wesk about how it was created on the Retro Dodo Podcast. He goes where no modder has ever gone before, and a keychain-Wii console makes me feel like Charlie inside Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
Wesk has finally shared the design for his Dreamcast Jr, a miniature version of the Dreamcast in the same style as Kawaii and smaller than the Dreamcast Mini ‘Dreamblade’ console. As with the Kawaii, it won't be able to read discs; Wesk has actually commented to say that Dreamcast discs are wider than the outer casing, so an optical drive will never happen. Still, inside the casing will hold a trimmed-down Dreamcast motherboard.
I think I've settled on the final Dreamcast Jr design and verified fitment is solid. Now I've just got to build one🙃 pic.twitter.com/QhArcK58RW

The design has lots of the same features as the original machine including the trademark orange swirl, the triangular power icon, buttons in the same place, and controller ports. There are only 2 on Wesk's design, but I think we can forgo 4-player multiplayer games in place of a mini Dreamcast. The design is also more rounded than the original Dreamcast and feels more like the range of mini consoles that we've been getting of late.

I'm not sure how small this will be yet; I'm hoping we can get Wesk back on the Retro Dodo podcast to find out more about his plans, but the fact that we've got a final design means that things are heading in the right direction. How long it will take him to build it is another matter, but when you've got the same skills as Wesk, it's easy to make magic happen.
