Remember when I was covering the news from Gamescom and got wind of the A1200 Amiga remake and a game port 30 years in the making? Well, today is the day that you can finally pre-order THEA1200, created by Retro Games Limited with The Settlers II and 24 other games preloaded for you to play straight away.
Yes, pre-orders are open now, with the console planning on launching in June 2026 (which is probably still before I'll get my Analogue 3D...). If you're unfamiliar with the Amiga A1200, then it goes back to a time of 90s floppy disk gaming. It's one for the true nostalgia buffs out there, just like The Spectrum that I reviewed earlier this year. And like The Spectrum, THEA1200 is a full-sized recreation, meaning you're getting a full-size working keyboard with space for a mouse and a controller to connect up to.
Like the other modern remakes and mini consoles from Retro Games LTD, this reimagined Amiga A1200 has HDMI connectivity, so you can plug it into your existing TV with no trouble. It also comes with the Workbench Desktop OS, allowing you to get creative to your heart's content, and you can upload your own games via USB stick too!
But let's talk about some of the games. The Turrican Trilogy, Ruff 'n' Tumble, Beneath a Steel Sky - they're classics and the perfect way to relive the classic games of your youth or discover a whole new era of retro gaming. And the fact that we've been waiting 30 years for this port of The Settlers II is frankly enough to make me want to buy this console when it arrives.
The console has an RRP of £149.99, €189.99, and $189.99 and is still set to ship in June 2026. Currently, it's available to pre-order from Amazon UK, but I'll be posting more links in here as and when they become available!
