Can you remember back in December when I wrote about a fan making a new Banjo-Kazooie game 'Mumbomania' in Dreams for the PS4/PS5? Well, a gamer by the name of Relevant-ish has remade the first The Legend of Zelda game for the NES using Dreams, and the result is a Nintendo Switch Link's Awakening-esque game that runs on the PlayStation.
If I were Nintendo right now, I'd be reaching for my pen to write 'Cease and Desist #54783457', but I'm not Nintendo, and I think this is awesome!
Some of you might be wondering what the heck Dreams actually is. It's a platform for PlayStation where you can create your own games and set them live for other people to play. It's still part of the PlayStation Plus subscription platform, so if you're a subscriber, you can download it and play a tonne of original fan-made games like this!
Honestly, Relevant-ish has done an amazing job here. As I said above, this could slot in with Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom on Switch very easily, except you can only play this on the PS4/PS5. The story is exactly the same as The Legend of Zelda but with a brand-new sheen.
The textures of the dungeons look amazing, and seeing the overworld in a whole new style is amazing. Plus, Link moves and battles well, and while the video above only shows select parts of the remake, it's more than enough to entice me to give it a go! There are also side-on versions in the dungeons which look super cool too!
For fans of the original, this could be a great way to celebrate Zelda's 40th Anniversary, along with the arrival of the Ocarina of Time remake, of course. Search for Dreams in the PlayStation Store to find out more and download to get playing this Legend of Zelda NES remake!
