Skate clothing brand Supreme is set to launch a new collection of items based on the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
Insider themachint0sh revealed the Supreme x Metal Gear Solid collaboration on Twitter and cites the new clothing line’s expected to arrive in Spring/Summer 2024.
Supreme, the skateboarding lifestyle brand, will bring various Metal Gear Solid apparel to market ‘next season’.
The Supreme website’s currently closed and a brief message on the shop page confirms the online store reopens soon with the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, and presumably the Metal Gear Solid apparel, available for purchase.
The Metal Gear Solid franchise has been gaining traction again recently following the release of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 and a slew of other merchandising collaborations including MGS branded hats and even cologne.
Series protagonists Solid Snake and Raiden had also popped up in the popular battle royale game, Fortnite, and Konami is currently developing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a PS5 exclusive remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
Tactical Espionage Skating Action
Fans of the Metal Gear Solid series will know that the upcoming collaboration with Supreme isn’t the first time the franchise has embraced skater culture.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty features a tense boss battle where players control Raiden as he diffuses a series of bombs planted by the roller-blading demolitions expert, Fatman.
The subsequent expanded re-release titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, took things a step further with an adaptation of Konami’s Evolution Skateboarding appearing exclusively on the PS2 version.
Skateboarding saw the legendary hero of Shadow Moses (and Raiden) and hopping on a deck and nailing kickflips and 50-50 grinds around Metal Gear Solid 2’s Big Shell while completing missions like disarming bombs and destroying enemy Cyphers.
The mode even includes a pop-punk rendition of the classic Metal Gear Solid musical score that wouldn’t be out of place on a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater soundtrack.
