More and more of my favourite Nintendo games are being decompiled every day now. From Majora's Mask to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo's back catalogue is slowly being ported to other machines, which while a great thing for game preservation, is probably a nightmare for Nintendo's lawyers.

The latest title in the spotlight is Super Mario Galaxy, which is no surprise considering the huge success of the movie. And now, the Wii classic has passed the 50% decompiled stage!

So what does this mean? Well, it means that very soon, we could have a native PC port of Super Mario Galaxy, and that the game could then appear on other systems too. It would mean that we would see more mods in the game in the same vein as Dusk, the Twilight Princess mod, and other enhancements to graphics and gameplay.

The project has been live for a couple of years now, so it could still be a little while before we get ports for other consoles coming into the picture. Still, 50% is great progress, and I'll be checking decomp.dev regularly to see how many percent it goes up by (not that I'm obsessed or anything).
