In many ways, Super Mario 64 is becoming the DOOM of our day. Having said that, DOOM is very much still being ported to anything and everything, so I guess Mazza has a lot of catching up to do before people get sick of seeing it on thermometers, fridges, and pregnancy tests (someone actually put DOOM on a pregnancy test, which kind of makes me think they weren't too excited about being a parent...).
I recently wrote about Super Mario 64 being ported to the Vectrex, which I think we can all agree is a monumental task considering the technical limitations of the Vectrex. But equally, putting Super Mario 64 on the VirtualBoy is just as exciting. i've always wanted to have 100% more headaches when I'm trying to tackle Bowser!
I'm porting Super Mario 64 to the Virtual Boy. Real 3D and the BLJ still breaks the Endless Stairs. Crazy what these old consoles could actually do. Makes you wonder what we could have gotten back then. https://t.co/KDaIjXDQKG

It's funny seeing the backwards long jump glitch with Real 3D still breaking the Endless Stairs glitch in the game, but this time in that iconic (if you liked it) red hue that we remember from playing Virtual Boy games.
The project is being undertaken by Mochi64. From the look of their other projects on their social accounts, I would say that Claude is being used to get the project off the ground, but I'm not sure to what extent it's been used as of yet. The only footage I currently have is from the tweet you can see above showing Mario going backwards up the staircase, so I don't know how much has actually been completed either! It would help me tenfold if I could see some more images to see how far along Mochi64 has actually got with the project; there's nothing worse than getting excited about a full port of something and only getting a small snippet!
I'll be monitoring Mochi's socials to see if any more footage crops up to confirm whether this is going to be a full port project or not, but for now, I guess you can rewatch the majesty of the backwards long jump and imagine yourself staring into that plastic viewfinder for hours at a time!
