The trailer for this game is just over a minute long, and I'm already hooked. To say this is a GBA-esque game, the scenes that Team Dissonance have created inside this game are phenomenal, capturing a fantasy region with a whole new feel thanks to different colour palettes and some exciting new ideas.

For example, there are no starters or gyms... yeah, you read that right!

The storyline has a much different feel to everything I've played before, including the likes of Pokémon Unbound, which has its darker moments. The streets are dilapidated and covered in rubbish, and Pokémon are either lying on pavements, searching through bin bags, or being made to work. The voiceover mentions that our dreams can come true if we pursue them, but asks how much we have to sacrifice in the process. Have Pokémon trainers pushed too far to make their dreams come true? And what is the strange pink tree that looks a little like the Sanctuary Tree from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance?

Team Dissonance have stated that the game will feature lots of references to Black African and Caribbean culture, which I think is awesome. It's not something that we've seen much of in Pokémon ROM hacks or fan games as of yet, especially in the mainline stories. The closest we've come so far to having any kind of culture in a Pokémon game is the fan-made art project Pokémon Marble and Bronze, so Pokémon Dissonance will finally give us a deeper storyline with a different feel and background, hopefully with a more modern tinge too!

And speaking of storyline, the game answers the question of 'what would Pokémon be like if it were a story-driven game?' It's a game that explores what it means to find your own path in a world that pressures you into following the same narrative, and it mixes pixel art visuals with modern gaming mechanics, as well as adding voice acting to the game too! Come on, Game Freak, this feels like a game that you guys should have made instead of having to leave it to the fan-made modding community to come up with!

I don't have any information as to when this game is releasing yet, what with this being the first teaser trailer we've had, but I'll be watching this project very closely, as I want to play it as soon as it releases!
