Sonic Superstars Gameplay
Just take a look at that still above! These levels look so familiar but also so fresh and new at the same time.
It’s that classic Sonic feel, but not as you know it.
After the success of Sonic Frontiers, it’s a bold move for Sega to go back to a side-scrolling Sonic game. But, just like many people still prefer the classic Zelda games like Ocarina of Time, Sonic fans will always flock to a side-scrolling Sonic title like Eggman to a pile of Chaos Emeralds.
Speaking of Chaos Emeralds, they have given Sonic and his pals some epic new abilities to use in this new Sonic game.
In a touch of Link’s Zora Armour in BotW, players can now swim up waterfalls to reach platforms higher up.
They can also change form too; we’re big fans of the 8-bit squids that we’ve seen flying around the screen in the official trailer.

Sonic Superstars is going to be available on all major platforms including Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.

Who Are The Playable Characters In Sonic Superstars?
This new Sonic adventure allows players to take Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose into battle against Dr Eggman and a strange new enemy who is yet to be revealed.
Amy Rose returns with her trusty hammer, Knuckles has his fists, and Tails can hover as always.
The great bit about having four characters is that four of you can play the game at once via local co-op.
Yes; couch co-op is back, folks! This puts Sonic Superstars up there with Super Mario 3D World in my opinion, especially with all of the new powers that the gang can utilise!
When Is the Sonic Superstars Release Date?
According to Amazon, the Sonic Superstars release date is December 31st 2023.
I’ve just checked shipping to Retro Dodo Towers and it says I’ll have the game by January 2nd.
This all seems pretty legit, until you go back to remember the whole Metroid Prime 4 Release Date debacle from a couple of years ago.
Amazon told me I would be getting my copy of Metroid Prime 4 on January 2nd 2023, and we all know how that went down!
In this case, however, we’re inclined to believe the date. Sega are usually pretty on the ball with their Sonic release dates these days, and they know that gamers go crazy for the blue blur.
I think the backlash would be far more catastrophic if Sonic never showed up than it has been at the lack of Metroid Prime 4 in our lives.
