Pikmin and LEGO go together like cheese and pickle, pasta and tomatoes, and a hand and a glove. What I'm trying to say is, it just works. It's almost like Pikmin was meant for LEGO. The Pikmin themselves make perfect minifigures, as does Captain Olimar, and this epic new design from FORRE57 manages to capture their love of the first and fourth Pikmin games while encapsulating everything we love about the games themselves.

FORRE57, real name Forest, spent their childhood making ships, treasures, and enemies from the Pikmin games. This has been something that they've been working on for a long time, and after the arrival of Pikmin 4 and the retelling of the original game in the 'Olimar's Shipwreck Tale' mode, Forrest felt it was time to bring his blocky reimagining of the Pikmin universe to the world. And it looks set to reach its first milestone of 100 supporters in less than 24 hours.

The set features the classic red, blue, and yellow Pikmin, i.e the OG critters from the original GameCube game, both in bud and flower styles. There's also the onion for the Pikmin to live in, and Olimar's ship, as well as the pink crystals used to mark the home base in Pikmin 4.

The SS Dolphin is, perhaps, the pièce de résistance of the set. You can remove its 15 main parts so that you can hide them around your house, pick them up and put them together in the same 15-day period that Olimar has in Shipwreck Tale. It's made up of the following components:
- #1 Ionium Jet
- #2 Ionium Jet
- Automatic Gear
- Bowsprit
- Extraordinary Bolt-
- Geiger Counter
- Guard Satellite
- Interstellar Radio
- Libra
- Main Engine
- Omega Stabilizer
- Radiation Canopy
- Repair Type Bolt
- Sagittarius
- Whimsical Radar

Without any of the above parts, the SS Dolphin looks like the shipwreck at the beginning of the game. As Forrest explains, you can position your Pikmin holding the pieces as though they were carrying them to the ship, creating a different diorama every 15 days!
The most iconic Pikmin enemy, the Dwarf Bulborb, makes an appearance too, complete with a hidden Easter Egg inside of it, one of many that show Forrest's in-depth knowledge and love of the series.

You can support this LEGO Pikmin build for free by heading over to the official LEGO Ideas page. At the time of writing, it has 76 supporters and another 59 days to reach 100, at which point it will receive another 365 days to hit the next milestone of 1,000 supporters.
