We've all been excited about Nintendo announcing their shiny new remake of Ocarina of Time after seeing the short clip in the last Nintendo Direct. But for one developer, the news meant the end of a decade-long project to revitalise the tale of the Hero of Time.

CryZENx has been working on bringing Ocarina of Time back to us with a brand new look for the past ten years. They began working on the project back in 2016, and have spent the past decade enticing us with how amazing the game was going to look with upgraded characters, tonnes more depth, and a look that made us feel like we were experiencing the game for the first time again.
Sadly, since the remake was officially announced by Nintendo, CryZENx has decided to throw in the towel to avoid Nintendo coming knocking on his door with a lawsuit. Rather than being down about their hard work being stopped, however, they seem pretty pumped about the new remake, congratulating Nintendo on doing such a good job. It's nice, and pretty darn honourable, to see a show of solidarity for Zelda from CryZENx here rather than any animosity, and it isn't stopping them from getting back on Epona (the horse) and carrying on remaking games.

With plans to remake other classic Nintendo games like Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and the Turok Games, CryZENx has said that the assets that they have made can be used in new chapters in their future work.
CryZENx's work hasn't been in vain; their content has kept us entertained over the past 10 years, with their videos amassing millions of views from Zelda fans around the world and giving us all hope that one day we would be able to experience the greatest game ever made in a whole new light. I will never forget walking through CryZENx's version of Hyrule Castle Town and seeing the Temple of Time for the first time - it blew me away!
I like to think that Nintendo maybe saw the attention these videos were getting and decided to make their own updated version of Ocarina because of CryZENx's work. That would be the ultimate act of flattery, even though Nintendo would never admit it if it were true. With the remake dropping sometime this year, we've hopefully not got long to wait to find out whether the remake can live up to CryZENx's outstanding efforts. Let's hope he can beat Nintendo to the punch when it comes to remaking Wind Waker or Twilight Princess!
