I only just finished writing a new post about ATARI stating they're going to make one of the "biggest announcements we've ever made", a tease many thought was going to be Mr Nutz's return, and although he has returned, it wasn't ATARI's big announcement; we're still waiting for that.
That said, Strictly Limited has partnered with ATARI to produce and announce the return of both Mr. Nutz and Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad in physical form for both SNES, SEGA Genesis, and SEGA Mega Drive. It was originally released in 1993 for SNES, and later in 1994 for SEGA Mega Drive, offering a fun adventure platformer featuring a fearless red squirrel, making his way through forests, faces, caves and other imaginative worlds in order to stop bad guy Mr. Blizzard from freezing the planet.

Strictly Limited states that this rerelease: "features smooth controls, vibrant visuals, rewarding exploration, and countless hidden secrets, the game remains one of the most memorable platformers of its era. Joining it is Mr. Nutz: Hoppin' Mad, the long-lost sequel that was originally developed for the Amiga and planned for release on the Mega Drive as Mr. Nutz 2. This fast-paced adventure sees Mr. Nutz battling an invasion of mischievous Alien Chickens across expansive levels connected by an explorable overworld. With its unique approach to platforming, colorful environments, and emphasis on exploration, Hoppin' Mad offers fans a fresh adventure starring the iconic squirrel."
All versions are priced at €49.99/£44/$59.99, and pre-orders start today on Strictly Limited's official website. Shipping and its official release are scheduled for Q1 2027, so a while to wait, unfortunately.

Mentioned Features of the Physical Games
- Compatible with SNES, Genesis and Mega Drive consoles
- Classic 2D platforming with smooth, responsive controls
- Explore colourful worlds filled with hidden paths and collectables
- Battle quirky enemies across a variety of imaginative environments
- Discover forests, caves, snowy landscapes, and more
- Charming cartoon-style visuals and a memorable soundtrack
- A beloved retro platforming adventure for collectors and fans alike
It's good to see this icon return after 24 years; the last game was released on GAME BOY Advance in 2003, which was a long time ago, and even then it was getting some good ratings from the media, so perhaps this is a good one for retro gamers to explore should they want something refreshing to play on their old hardware. It looks like it comes with a manual too, heck yeah!
