It was only a couple of months ago when we wrote a large written piece about ATARI's comeback; they seem to be nailing their return with modern hardware, remakes and physical games, and it's clear that retro gamers are lapping it up, so much so that ATARI made a cool $30,000,000 in revenue last year.

So, when I saw a large landing page on their website with the URL "Something Big", I was immediately intrigued. ATARI has made a section of their website dedicated to this tease, calling it "one of the biggest announcements we've ever made". Offering gamers first dibs on the reveal by subscribing to their email list.

The second hint is the top line "we have a vision for your game shelf", indicating that this could be potential new hardware or physical games coming to fruition. But if you want to get more specific, perhaps it's an announcement of new IP, a potential remaster, or more. I am personally hoping for new hardware, such as an Atari Lynx 2, or some kind of ultimate ATARI console that can play multiple different ATARI games in one focused console with HDMI output, but that's just me dreaming here.

Many ATARI fans have their thoughts; I've read that some experts think ATARI now has the rights to Mr Nutz, and Strictly Limited made a tease on their socials with a hidden Mr Nutz on it, suggesting it's coming back, but I don't know if that's going to be their "biggest announcement ever", though it is cool. And it's clear that they missed their own announcement here as it should have been revealed yesterday, so who knows what's going on with Mr Nutz.

The "shelf" word to me makes me believe a new console is coming, perhaps the ATARI Jaguar, or a brand new piece of hardware that modernises all of their consoles in a way that will help them with future physical game sales, which I know would go down well with the community, for sure. Heck, it could be something about their partnership with Universal to create movies; maybe that's the reveal: their timeline of movies that eventually end up physically "on your shelf"? I'm interested in your thoughts, and as usual we'll keep you updated when we hear more!
