I know that Luigi is usually the one who's out there solving the ghoulish problems in Mario's family, but that doesn't mean that Mario is averse to getting his hands dirty when it comes to the occult. While the still of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse above might seem familiar, the character of Trevor has been replaced by the famous Italian plumber, though I doubt he's been called in to check on Dracula's plumbing.

This hack by sebastianangel (great first name if I do say so myself) adds the Mario Bros sprite for Mazza to the game. That's essentially all you're getting here, but it's great seeing Mario in as many ROM hacks as possible, especially when they feel so far out of his comfort zone!

Check out the video trailer below, and visit the RomHacking project page for more information.

While we're on the subject of Mario stepping into the world of Castlevania, I also want to draw your attention to a ROM hack I played a little while back called Castlemania, and although Mario has a much older-looking character sprite, ala the original Mario Bros game, it's a brilliant hack that seasoned NES enthusiasts should give a try.

That's industry speak for 'it's hard as nails', but at least it'll keep you occupied for a long time! Check out my dedicated article on Castlemania for more information!
