Modder Tests Nintendo Switch Lite OLED Screen Kit For Enhanced Portable Play

Nintendo Switch Lite OLED mod

I love my Nintendo Switch OLED; playing Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom in handheld mode with enhanced graphics is incredible, and it gives extra life to some of my favourite games with a sheen worthy of the Tri-Force itself. The annoying thing is that the OLED screen is only for the dockable Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo hasn’t made a Lite console with the updated screen.

As always, when the big companies don’t come through with the goods, the modding community steps up to the plate and uses their skills to create the products gamers are crying out for. Taki Udon is a name that you will no doubt know from reading Retro Dodo articles over the years. Their creations have turned heads throughout the community, and when finished, this new fix for the Nintendo Switch Lite could give gamers the extra-crisp visuals they’ve been wishing for.

Taki Udon is planning on creating a mod that will cost $50 maximum, and I think we can all agree that this would be a game changer for those willing to tinker with their Switches. OLED screens aren’t anything new, but as Gfinity Sports recently quoted, Valve wanted to make a Steam Deck OLED because so many people loved the Switch OLED. Nintendo’s refusal to make a Switch Lite OLED has baffled so many people, but it’s undoubtedly due to the fact that people will buy both the OLED dockable console and the Lite for different purposes and a way for Nintendo to offer something for everyone at different price points.

Taki Udon hopes the mod will be ready and available soon at what I think we can all agree is a very nice price, so keep an eye out on their Instagram for more news as and when it drops. I’ll be reaching out to Taki Udon over the coming days, so stay tuned for more information as and when it drops!
