Yes, you read that right - the Wii is getting a new physical game, and it's arriving in November. I wrote about Metal Canary back in February of this year and got really excited about the fact that the Wii was getting a physical release years after it was discontinued.
Metal Canary is a new game from Nai Adventure, and it's already been out on the Dreamcast before the Wii release. It will be launching this November, and it comes with a proper Wii case and colour box artwork too. And yes, this is a game that comes on a disc, not a ROM or something you plug in with a USB stick. You'll be able to push this into the game slot just like the good old days and watch the Wii swallow it up.
The Wii version of Metal Canary will be debuting at The Canal 3 Expo 2026 2026 in São Paulo, Brazil this November. Physical copies will be on sale from publisher 'Old Game' a little further down the line, though I don't currently have any details as of yet as to when that will be. I would imagine that details for pre-orders will be revealed during the convention on November 20–22, 2026, so keep an eye out for more information as and when it arrives!
Gameplay-wise, Metal Canary feels a lot like Tiger Heli. It's not the type of game you would necessarily associate with the Wii, but that's by the by. The fact that there's a brand-new Wii game arriving and giving us a reason to drag out our Wii and Wii U consoles is good enough for me!
