All Pokémon SoulGold Cheats [Fully Tested]

Though Pokémon SoulGold, a ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald, may look overly familiar at first, there’s actually a huge number of new elements and refinements to the gameplay. An expanded selection of starter Pokémon, bosses, fishing and multiple legendary Pokémon are just a few of the features you’ll find in Pokémon SoulGold. It even has its own achievement system, with 121 trophies you can earn!

We’ve also managed to test a number of cheats for Pokémon SoulGold, to refine the experience even further. You’ll need an emulator that supports code entry. These codes are even easier to use if your emulator can auto detect code types. Do note that we managed to easily get Pokémon SoulGold working on Windows using mGBA, but unfortunately not on our mobile emulators. Codes can be entered, enabled and disabled with ease using this emulator, and it’s worth experimenting with different emulators to get it up and running on your device of choice. 

How to Use Pokémon SoulGold Cheat Codes

This is the same advice that we’d give for any Pokémon cheats: remember to always save your game before applying any cheats, and for the best, most stable results, turn off all other cheats when applying and using a new one. As there are so many different combinations of codes possible, we can’t guarantee they’ll all work together as intended. In fact, we often have trouble ourselves when multiple cheats are used simultaneously, so it’s worth turning off as many as you can to use the latest one you want.

If you get stuck or the added cheats do crash or otherwise break your game, you can always go back to your save point. It’s important to remember to turn each added cheat off before saving again too, so that the chances of crashing or otherwise breaking your game by adding a new code are reduced.

Do note that numerous versions of Pokémon SoulGold are available, but the one we used is the latest: version 1.2. All of the codes on this list have been thoroughly tested at Retro Dodo, using the Windows-based mGBA emulator, and each cheat’s section tells you how to make sure each cheat code functions as you need it to. 

Be very careful with cheats for different versions of Pokémon SoulGold, or codes which we have not listed here; we found some which crashed our game, or didn’t work at all. It’s worth noting that standard codes for Pokémon Emerald hacks don’t work due to the way the hack is built on pokeemerald-expansion. This goes to explain why the list of working codes is somewhat smaller than you may find on other Pokémon ROM hacks. 

Encounter Shiny Pokémon

Every Pokémon you encounter will be a shiny variant when using this code:

Just use this code to give your active Pokémon’s moves 99 PP each, which will never reduce:

Note On Other Pokémon SoulGold Codes

We have tried using a large number of other codes for Pokémon SoulGold which we’ve seen elsewhere. However, for our versions of Pokémon SoulGold (we’ve been generally using the MyBoy! emulator to test these codes, and version 1.2 of Pokémon SoulGold), no other codes would work properly for us. We couldn’t reliably get the cheat which allows you to replace Move IDs to work, for example. Therefore, we have not included this, or any other codes which wouldn’t work reliably (or at all) on this list.
