It doesn't take a genius to figure out that that's Dhalsim floating above Chun Li in the picture above, with McDonald's Japan posting a silhouette of game characters taking up the famous Street Fighter movie stances from the promo shot of the Jean-Claude Van Damme 1994 film.
If you follow your WWE, then you'll already know that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes are taking up the roles of Akuma and Guile respectively in the new movie coming in 2026, with Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, portraying my favourite character, Blanka. There's nothing more in the post other than the caption 'Tomorrow's announcement, they're coming to meet,' and X users excitedly posting the picture that I've included below.
So what could be happening? Are we going to be getting new Street Fighter toys from Happy Meals to promote the new movie? Will McDonald's release a new handheld to commemorate the series like they did with the McNugget Tetris handheld, or will it be a collectible trading card series? If they start giving away gloves shaped like Vega's claws, then I'll buy you all a pair to celebrate!
Thanks to the Console Heroes Street Fighter dioramas that are flying off shelves, more and more people are going back to discover the early Street Fighter games that these mysterious 8-bit shadowy figures appear to be based on. I had so many amazing days playing Street Fighter II: The World Warrior with my cousin, and whatever the Capcom collaboration is, I just hope it makes it all the way here to the UK so I can take advantage of it too!
