For a long time now, we've been using Dolphin for our GameCube emulation needs. It's the go-to for many gamers, but as emulation is a bit of an ever-changing beast, it's not always been a foolproof solution. It's had its fair share of teething problems that have still needed some work, especially when it came to Dual Core Mode and the sheer processing power it demanded.
As no two emulation devices are the same, crashes occurred far too often when playing games. According to Android Authority, after the Dolphin devs messing around with Dual Core mode to try and fix it for many years now, they've finally given up and admitted defeat and disabled Dual Core mode in a new update.
It means that on more powerful systems like your Gaming PC that don't need that extra core processing power, nothing will change, bar the fact that you won't be constantly pulling your hair out when games crash. If you're gaming on an Android device, however, the update won't be installed, as removing the Dual Core would negatively impact performance even more, making more games unplayable.
Update 2509 allows users to connect Wii Remotes to Dolphin again, as well as a whole host of changes and adaptations to make other games run much more smoothly. It's all listed in the Dolphin Emu blog post, which you can peruse to your heart's content!
