Cuphead & Mugman Are Causing A Stir Over On LEGO Ideas

Cuphead and Mugan are hot topics right now, and not just because they're essentially utensils that can hold warm beverages. They're firm fan favourites in the world of indie/retro gaming, and we covered the news recently that the developers behind Cuphead are making a new adventure for the Sega Master System!

This LEGO Ideas piece comes to us from banStickers and recreates the title screen of the original 2017 Cuphead game. Like the title screen, it shows Cuphead and Mugman standing on a small stack of poker chips. Both figurines have the trademark colours from their videogame counterparts, handles on the backs of their heads, and those cheeky smiles that make them two of the most non-threatening and amiable characters on the indie scene.

It's great to see a 3D imagining of characters that live in 2D sidescrolling games, and the Cuphead fans have come out in force to celebrate banStickers' design, praising the likeness to the original characters and their appreciation that they are getting their time in the LEGO spotlight.

While they might not be as movable as this Samus Aran set, I think this Cuphead and Mugman set would be great as a little display piece to showcase your love not just for these brave little characters, but for the indie gaming scene as a whole. It's nice to see non-mainstream characters getting onto the LEGO Ideas platform. Though with the upcoming Master System release gaining traction too, the world might be about to get gripped by Cuphead fever in a way it never has before!

The project has only been live for less than 24 hours at the time of writing and has almost hit its first milestone of 100 supporters. It will then have a further year to get 1,000 supporters, ultimately adding more time till it gets to 10,000 supporters and hopefully a thumbs up from the LEGO Ideas panel. I've supported banStickers' design for free, and you can too by visiting the LEGO Ideas page!
