Classic Sega Games Are Now Free Without Ads On Mobile

Super Monkey Ball iPhone

Since the arrival of emulators on iPhone, I've not needed to head to the App Store much. I've mostly got everything I need with Diddy Kong Racing and Jiggies of Time on Delta, and spend more time playing Mario Kart 64 than I should probably admit. Still, Sega have ported a bunch of their classic games to mobile free of charge without adverts for fans to download, and I'm never one to miss out on a freebie!

Golden Axe Games iphone

Nine games are available on both the App Store and the Google Play store to download.

  • Crazy Taxi Classic
  • Golden Axe Classics (Golden Axe I, II, and III)
  • Shining Force Classics (Shining Force I, II, and Shining in the Darkness)
  • Sonic CD Classic
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Ep. II
  • Streets of Rage Classic
  • Streets of Rage 2 Classic
  • Super Monkey Ball: Sakura Ed.
  • Virtua Tennis Challenge
Discontinued service message Sega

While the games were already free to download, they had small fees to remove ads. It seems that, after a notice stating that online support would soon be vanishing for them, however, there's a lot of speculation that the games might disappear from both stores alltogether, hence the removal of the ad-free fee. Still, if you download Sonic CD and Virtua Tennis now, you'll be able to keep them forever if they do get delisted.

Free games, no ads, to play forever more - what's not to love?
