Get ready to lace up your new favourite kicks because Bull Airs have unveiled the ‘Shoe Boy’, a Game Boy inspired sneaker.
The Bull Airs Shoe Boy AJ1 High Tops, to give them their full name, follows in the, ahem, footsteps of their previous video game inspired shoe, the Blazers, that was modelled after the original NES.
The new boots will be going on sale later today at midday EST and are extremely limited with only fifty pairs planned to be created. Anybody looking to pick up a pair will need to run over to Bull Airs website to place their order.
If you manage to snag yourself a pair of these spiffy sneakers you’ll still have to wait until the end of March 2024 to get your hands (or feet) on them, when pre-orders will be dispatched.
The Shoe Boy high tops will set punters back $350 but anybody that orders a pair within the first 48 hours will secure a $100 discount. That’s better than a kick in the teeth, that’s for sure!
Game On, Boy
The design of the Shoe Boy certainly does pay homage to Nintendo’s iconic handheld with the classic green screen pixelated Nike swoosh and even the Nintendo Seal of Quality getting the Bull Airs treatment!
If you’re in the market for a pair of sneakers that will show the world just how much you love the Game Boy, then I think you could do far worse than the Shoe Boy. My favourite detail on these shoes has to be the ‘A’ and ‘B’ buttons on the leather uppers and the 3D D-pad on the back of each boot.
I wonder if there was ever any plans to make some of the best Game Boy games playable on these funky boots! Alas, we might have to wait and see if any modders can make that happen!
Bull Airs offer a wide variety of custom and colourful footwear that I fear I will never be cool enough to actually wear myself, but will always admire their style with loving affection from a distance.
