AYANEO have just unveiled the Retro Power Bank during its AYANEO REMAKE Concept Launch livestream.
The new device was revealed by AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang during the 100-minute long livestream that promised to ‘Interpret Retro Reshape Classic’.
Mr Zhang revealed the Retro Power Bank by saying:
“To fulfill the promise I made to all of you during the AYANEO KUN event we announced a mysterious peripheral gift. Now, I can finally reveal it. This mysterious peripheral gift is a power bank created by AYANEO using the REMAKE concept designed for the vast community of retro gamers“.
AYANEO’s new power bank includes two USB-C ports with the positioning of the power button and the USB-C ports harkening back to Nintendo’s SNES.
Zhang explained that the positioning of the USB-C ports should create a nostalgic experience, as if users were plugging in their controllers when they charge their devices.
While no release date was announced, Arthur Zhang confirmed that AYANEO are planning to release the new power bank as soon as possible.
Modern Technology, Classic Aesthetics
The AYANEO Retro Power Bank is modelled after the design of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with the power display positioned where the SNES cartridge slot would be.
Arthur Zhang commented on the design of the Retro Power Bank by saying ‘Who says a power bank has to be all cold metal’ and drew comparisons to AYANEO’s existing pixel art covered chargers.
The palm-sized matt grey device was shown lying next to an iPhone to illustrate its diminutive size. The Retro Power Bank was roughly 60% of the size of Apple’s latest mobile.
Other REMAKE Reveals
The AYANEO REMAKE Concept Launch livestream was an opportunity for AYANEO to share information on the upcoming REMAKE product line that reimagines classic tech with AYANEO’s modern twist.
The Retro Power Bank wasn’t the only surprise for retro gamers during today’s livestream with AYANEO also officially revealing the Flip DS Handheld Windows PC, the Retro Mini PC AM01 and the ‘Pocket DMG’, the company’s homage to the Gameboy.
The Pocket DMG in particular caused mass hysteria here at Dodo Towers with our founder, Brandon, leaping into the air with delight at the announcement. He was a little more subdued with the reveal of the Retro Power Brick, but excited all the same.
