Doomguy Swaps Weapons For Wine In This Upper Class ROM Hack

Doom Gallery Experience gameplay

If you’ve ever wondered what Doom would look like if it were an Upper-Class art gallery experience, then I would see you’ve got a pretty niche brain. Then again, we’ve had a version of the Doom based on taking down Margaret Thatcher and the game working inside a PDF recently, so you can never really know which way the Doom modding community are going to go!

Doom: The Gallery Experience is a hack created by Filippo Meozzi and Liam Stone, who could well be two of the most highbrow modders we’ve ever featured on this site. Gone are the guns and the demons and the terrifying notion of fighting for your life, instead replaced by a glass of wine and checking out art pieces as you move through a museum.

Collect cheese and hors d’oeuvre’s, find secret beers (the art world definitely prefers wine), and grab money to spend on things in the gift shop! Honestly, it’s more relaxed than the Mario Doom crossover I covered! The cool thing is that the art pieces you see actually take you to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website to find out more about them – who thought Doom could ever be culturally enlightening, huh?

Speaking in an interview with VG247, Filippo Meozzi explained that as someone who works in the art industry and produces sculptures, he’s quite used to the processes involved with gallery opening nights and everything involved with the high-brow societal proceedings. He’s recreated that in this educational hack, and I daresay I’ve learned a thing or two this morning while playing! (See, even I’m talking posh now!)

Head to the game’s Itch.io page to play it for free in your browser or to download and play at your leisure!
