Futuristic racer F-Zero Maximum Velocity is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack this week.

Nintendo shared the news via a post on Twitter this morning, revealing that the Game Boy Advance launch title would arrive on Nintendo’s premium subscription service this Friday, the 29th of March 2024.

A short teaser video accompanied Nintendo’s announcement and showcased F-Zero Maximum Velocity running on the Switch with the distinctive roar of afterburners punctuating the fast-paced action.

All twenty tracks from the original 2001 Game Boy Advance release are included along with several unlockable vehicles to pilot.

As with other Game Boy Advance titles on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, F-Zero Maximum Velocity includes save states to save game progress at any time along with the ability to rewind your game by pressing ZL and ZR together. The rewind function in particular may come in handy during the hotly contested anti-gravity races of Maximum Velocity.

Back To The Future

F-Zero Maximum Velocity launched alongside the Game Boy Advance back in 2001 and sold over one million units worldwide.

The third entry in the futuristic racing series, Maximum Velocity takes place a quarter of a century after the events of the original F-Zero with an entirely new cast of racers to take control of including wealthy baron Lord Cyber and the pilot of the Fire Ball ship, Mickey Marcus.

F-Zero Maximum Velocity is the latest Game Boy Advance game to become playable on the Nintendo Switch. The service currently provides fourteen GBA titles including Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, and The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap.

The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack allows members to access a range of classic Nintendo games from the N64 and the Game Boy Advance back catalogue, in addition to select games for the SEGA Mega Drive and access to bonus content for titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
