8BitDo Reveal The Commodore 64 Inspired Retro Mechanical Keyboard

8BitDo have unveiled the Retro Mechanical Keyboard – C64 Edition, a programmable keyboard inspired by the Commodore 64.

The peripheral manufacturer revealed their latest endeavour on Twitter this afternoon with preorders going live on Amazon shortly afterwards.

Some always popular quality-of-life features return in the C64 with the independent control panel providing easy access to volume controls, shortcuts, and connection settings.

Based on the Commodore 64 with its distinctive beige shell and rainbow decals, the C4 Edition of 8BitDo’s Retro Mechanical Keyboard range also includes the oversized and programmable Dual Super Buttons and Super Stick controls. The striking input devices allow users to assign macros or map controls without requiring dedicated software.

Retro Dodo’s Founder Brandon has been using the 8BitDo N-Edition Retro Mechanical Keyboard (pictured above) for a while now and loves the attention to detail.

8BitDo have been consistent in their mission to deliver new devices based on older hardware as of late and have produced a range of controllers based on the original Xbox and even an indigo GameCube-inspired pad for the Nintendo Switch.

Here’s hoping that 8BitDo have shown similar care to the C64 Edition for fans of Commodore’s legendary games machines.
