There seems to be a trend in the retro gaming space recently. One where customers of physical re-releases and limited edition versions get disrespected, so much so that they're left with their money taken and no update as to when their order is going to be delivered. If there is an update, it's usually riddled with lies.

No, I'm not talking about Limited Run Games this time. Instead, it's the developer behind a video game very close to my heart, one of my favourite PlayStation 1 games in fact, and that's Croc, by Argonaut Games.

The remaster was released way back in Early 2025, and pre-orders of the physical edition and limited edition version were being taken in December... 2024, you read that right, 2024. Argonauts temed up with Rock It Games to manufacture and distribute the physical versions, and yet, still to this day, many who ordered them still haven't had them delivered, and that's after they stated shipping began in early July.

It's clear many of Argonaut's community are not happy with this, and why should they? Their social media is riddled with questions regarding orders, and Rock It Games themselves are getting the brunt of the hate. Holding customers' money that long, with false promises, isn't what should be happening in the space, and in my opinion, it should be darn right illegal.

Argonaut Games has replied to some X users recently, stating "we are doing everything we can to get them to communicate with customers", making many believe that Rock It Games is possibly ignoring Argonaut entirely or being incredibly unprofessional when it comes to cooperation.

Now, although that's a tough situation for Argonaut, at the end of the day, it's their problem, it's their IP, and they need fix the issue, especially considering they're already promoting a Croc 2 Remaster that's coming by the end of the year. They still have customers waiting for the original game, nows not the time to turn a blind eye and point fingers at the distributor of your physical edition that you chose.

Rock It Games has shot itself in the foot here and has certainly done irreparable damage to its business. Many retro gamers in the space now know to stay away from them, and certainly publications like ours won't be covering their releases because of this. Argonaut may have dodged a bullet, but there's still work to be done; there are still many customers without their orders, and we hope they can resolve the issue. The industry shouldn't be like this, even if it's becoming more and more common.
