One of the coolest features of Discord is the fact that you can show what game you are playing; not only is it a slight flex to your gaming library, but it also shows your followers and community members what you are playing right now. The issue with many retro games is the fact that typical emulators and retro hardware have no way of showing Discord what you're putting hours into.
Sometimes emulators will let you show the name of the emulator, but that's as far as it usually goes. So this new piece of software from a Nintendo 3DS enthusiast will go down well with Discord users who have good taste in handhelds.
This new piece of free, open-source software is known as 3DSPresence; it is technically a Discord remote procedure call, a toolset that allows external apps like video games and software to talk to the local application and point it to your Discord desktop client to read and to then show what's being used.
Not only will 3DSPresence show what game is being played, but it will let people know if you're on the homepage; it can show your avatar, and from what I can tell, it works with all 3DS games.
To get it to work, you need a Nintendo 3DS with boot9strap installed. If you have LumaCFW (Luma3DS), then you have boot9strap. You will also need a Discord account and a way to transfer files to your console's SD card.
