Everything We Know About Uncharted 6 So Far
Uncharted has always been one of Sony’s stalwart games for selling their consoles. Nathan Drake’s adventures have been many, his feats down-right mad, and his games have even made the jump from console to the big screen.
We’ve all been hearing the rumours about Uncharted 6, the sixth main game in the series, dropping since 2021. And thanks to the movie dropping in 2022, the people couldn’t be more ready for a new Uncharted game.
We know that the last Uncharted release, the unnumbered ‘The Lost Legacy’ was the last release in 2017, so it’s about time that we had a new game dropping.
Chloe Frazer was the protagonist in that game, so we know that she’s going to make an appearance in the new title.
We also know the cold hard truth that Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman has publicly stated that the team are ready to call it a day with Uncharted, however. He came out with that statement in January 2023, which makes me think that the series has one more title left in it before they put down Drake’s treasure map for good.
The Main Uncharted 6 Rumours
The main uncharted 6 rumour that we’re super excited about is the fact that the next game could be open world. It’s something that Justin Richmond, one of the games directors has said they might try in the future, so now would be the time to do it!
We’ve already touched on the fact that this could well be the last ever Uncharted game if the rumours are to be believed, with Nathan Drake going into retirement and letting both Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross take the lead.
And you know what that means – a brand new set of games that could go on to rival Lara Croft!
There’s also a lot of speculation about whether Uncharted 6 could have a touch of ‘A Way Out’ in it, with players heading into a co-op mode where one person controls Nathan Drake and another controls his protege. Or, by controlling Chloe and Nadine.
And if it is Nathan, then another rumour about who his protege could be is his own daughter, Cassie!
Hey, that’s a family business that I for one would be very interested in carrying on!
The last rumour we’ve found that we’re not so sure will happen is that Uncharted 6 could be a VR title. I’m not so sure about this one as some of those drops that he falls down would make me want to throw up violently.
I know VR is getting more popular these days, but I don’t think Naughty Dog would go open-world and VR in one fell swoop. They would pick one or the other, and my money is on open world.
What Can We Expect From Uncharted 6 Gameplay?
As well as open world gameplay featuring multiple biomes, we can expect Uncharted 6 to have more weapons and all of the characters from the previous games appearing for one final adventure.
We haven’t had a trailer yet so can’t speak about any footage, but there are some obvious things that we can expect from the new Uncharted game.
Open world gameplay would revolutionise Uncharted 6, and having multiple biomes to travel through like BotW and TotK that challenge the player to think ahead and look for new dangers would be phenomenal.
As I’ve said above, we’re all thinking this is going to be the last title in the series to bear the ‘Uncharted’ name, so we’re also expecting every character (still living) to make an appearance one final time, like those last episodes of your favourite sitcom where everyone turns up and says one line.
We can expect the narrative to be strong and deep throughout, twinned with more weapons than you can shake a stick at.
Though a stick won’t be one of those weapons, unless it’s got an Uzi stuck to it.
If, as we suspect, this is the final game, then there are going to be so many twists and turns too. Nathan will probably find out that Cassie isn’t his daughter but an 800 year old witch trying to steal his trinkets or something.
If you’re listening, Naughty Dog, then you can have that idea for free.
Will Uncharted 6 Be Coming To Xbox?
The only way you’re getting any Uncharted action on Xbox is by sticking the Blu-ray of the film into your Xbox Series X/S. Until Microsoft and Sony patch things up, there’s no hope for Uncharted 6 dropping on Microsoft’s console.
Uncharted has historically been a PlayStation exclusive with Legacy of Thieves recently arriving on the Steam Store, so it’s synonymous with Sony for the most part.
With the current complications between Sony and Microsoft, we don’t see Uncharted 6 arriving on Xbox any time soon, so you’ll have to invest in a PS5 if you want to get in on some treasure hunting antics.
Uncharted 6 Release Date
Uncharted 6 is most likely to be released On PS5 in Winter 2026.
If we take Naughty Dog’s statement in 2023 of them being ready to move on from Uncharted as them preparing us for the end and that they began work on one final hurrah after the Legacy of Thieves dropped in 2022, then 2026 isn’t an unrealistic goal.
That would have been 5 years of hard graft, and Naughty Dog are no strangers to knocking out epic games.
And, with another Uncharted Movie in the works, it would only be right to give us one last massive title to play for the next 10+ years, just like we’ve been doing with Skyrim!
Who Is Nathan Drake?
Nathan Drake is the main character in the Uncharted Series and the Uncharted movie. He’s a treasure hunter who searches for hidden mysteries and secrets across the world, and he often has to fight his way out of dangerous situations in order to claim his prizes.
It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it!
Why Is Uncharted So Popular?
Uncharted is an incredibly popular game series not just because of Tom Holland’s recent movie, but because Nathan Drake’s games give us the perfect dose of escapism and thrill-seeking adventure from the comfort of our sofa.
These games are super addictive, and I think everyone loves the romanticised idea of being a treasure hunter; searching for lost artefacts could be the coolest job ever!
Will Uncharted 6 Be Coming Out On PS4?
We suspect that Uncharted 6 will go straight to PS5 and not see a PS4 release.
Sooner or later, Sony are going to have to phase the PS4 out and just make games for the PS5. If there are PS4 users out there that need persuading to buy a PS5 still, then Uncharted 6 would be the game to bring them over to the new console.
When Is Uncharted 6 Coming Out?
Uncharted 6 will most likely see a release date set for Winter 2026, giving fans something extra to put on their Christmas lists!
