If, like me, you're getting a little bit jaded with the constant supply of AI decomps and recomps that are arriving every day and would like a way to find the human made projects, then there's now a solution. A user by the name of
Funky90sLion on X has been working on making a Google Document with all of the human-led decomp and recomp projects in one place, and while it's fantastic that this resource is now available, it's disheartening how few non-AI projects there currently are on there.

Writing on the Google Doc, the list's funky curator tells us:

Around the early 2020s, we witnessed a decompilation that changed everything. The ability to play your classic games NATIVELY on your PC with mods at uncapped FPS? It’s a dream come true! Thanks to dozens of talented people, many classic games were decompiled and ported into PC for anyone to play. Character mods, Audio mods, Co-op, gamemodes, the works. Now we’re in the mid-2020s, and AI has gotten a hold of everything, with people that have little to NO programming experience porting games completely untested, leading to a wave of buggy AI ports of games that are completely broken. And the sad part is, they overshadow the quality work of decomps/recomps done by actual people.

Funky90sLion is working to champion human-led projects just like the good old days, and they're going to be keeping the list up to date with new entries as and when they find them/they're released. They're planning on reaching out to the creators of each of the decomps and recomps to get accurate information on how they've made them too to further back up the list.

Here's the full list of decomps and recomps made so far:

RECOMPILATIONS - WORK IN PROGRESS

As I said, the list will be added to as the weeks, months, and years go on, and Funky90sLion has said that if any AI projects do make it through the door by accident, they're open to people messaging to correct them so that the list can be kept AI-free forevermore. They're only human, after all, so sometimes mistakes are made!

Keep an eye on the list for more updates in the future!
