TinyCircuits Reveals New Transparent Purple Thumby Handheld

If you are an ant then this will be some much welcomed news, as the team behind one of the world’s smallest, functioning handhelds has just launched a new colour-way. The Thumby is a charming handheld that I have had for some time now.

At just 1.2″ tall, featuring a 0.4″ display that can play unique black and white games, it’s certainly a niche device, but one that can go with you quite literally anywhere thanks to the attached keyring that allows you to put this on your keychain, much like the Funkey S.

Originally the Thumby came in one colour, which was a light grey, but now because of the crowdfunding campaign of their second handheld, the Thumby Color (which I have also tested) they are giving backers of their collector’s edition a backing perk which is the transparent purple original Thumby.

This allows backers that are willing to pledge $225 the chance to get hold of this limited edition color-way before anyone else. For those that don’t have the chance to pledge that amount you will be glad to know that the transparent purple will be available for retail in Spring 2025 according to Tiny Cicrcuits.

The transparent purple edition isn’t different in any way apart from the new coloured shell, so it’s all cosmetic and built for true fans of the Thumby, and true fans of the atomic purple shells.

It’s a neat edition to their portfolio and I hope they continue to make more color variants of their handhelds, especially with the release of the Thumby Color.
