I’d be lying if I said that Sony have good taste in making unique variants of their Playstation 5 DualSense controller, there’s only a handful I like and even then they’re incredibly hard to get hold of. It’s not like the old days where Limited Edition controllers were actually cool.
That said, the team at Killscreen have had enough with Sony’s basic looking controllers, and have taken it upon themselves to create something Sony don’t have the balls to do… because they’d get sued.
Killscreen have revealed their custom CubeSense controller, a design that takes inspiration from the classic Nintendo Gamecube featuring the same colour-way, a transparent under-belly and they’ve even made custom analogue sticks that resemble the Gamecube’s too.
The closer you look, the more beautiful it gets. The front is covered in a matte purple shell, unlike anything Sony has used before. The grey buttons resemble the GameCube’s in many ways, alongside the use of red and green action buttons which contrasts well with the grey.
The analogue sticks play a core part in making it look Nintendo-like, and the “C” stick has been rotated ever so slightly to not look like a “C” and likely dodges any copyright infringement by the big dogs, smart. The grey stick features the iconic circled grips making it feel even more nostalgic.
The back is completely transparent adding a modern touch to this vintage design with grey shoulder buttons to resemble the original Gamecube controller too. No corner has been left untouched and it’s a beautiful design that makes me miss my Gamecube dearly.
Because its custom KillScreen offer customers the chance to upgrade the triggers to “clicky” triggers which features less travel and faster pressing, perfect for those that play fast paced shooting games. You can even partner it up with click action buttons to which have faster travel and removes the rubber membrane underneath.
So not only will it look better than your crusty white controller, but it will also feel better too and you’ll look cool in front your friends when you show off your higher K/D ratio. Sign us up.
