We've seen images of the Nintendo Switch 2 40th Anniversary Edition that had leaked online, and it turns out that they were real. I know, I sound a little surprised, but you never can tell with leaked images, especially nowadays when it comes to AI.
The 40th Anniversary Switch was officially revealed at the end of the main Ocarina of Time Direct video, and I could sense the entire internet going wild (mainly because I had the chat open in the YouTube video). Do I need a new Nintendo Switch 2? No, definitely not - I've only had mine for just over a year now, and it's still in great condition. Am I going to buy a new one though? Yes, 100%. I mean, look at it - it's a Zelda fan's dream console!
The Switch 2 Dock has a Triforce design on it with the three symbols of the Goddesses of Hyrule that are found on the items that Link learns once her becomes an adult - Din's Fire, Naryu's Love, and Farore's Wind. The Joycon controllers are green like Link's tunic, also denoting a feel of Kokiri Woods and the rolling expanse of Hyrule Field. There's a little bit of gold on there too, with the inclusion of a Triforce being held up by the original sprite for Link in the very first The Legend of Zelda game, and gold accents around the rings where the analog sticks can be found.
One thing I'm also buying (who am I kidding, I'm getting it all) is the Pro Controller. For me, that's the best buy out of all the new hardware, and it's also exactly the same as the images that we saw of the leaked controller boxes. I only have one Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, so it makes sense to have another one for when me and my girlfriend are playing, right... right? There's also a display Pro Controller and display stand bundle that's available exclusively from the Nintendo Stores in New York and San Francisco.
One thing I didn't spot in the leaks was the Carrying Case. I'm not sure how sturdy it will be or if it's just going to be more of a storage case for when playing using handheld mode in the house. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one soon so I can give you more information on it.
