Nintendo shocked us all at their latest Nintendo Direct with the announcement of the next installment in the 2D Mario series, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
And needless to say, this game is looking absolutely stunning and like a ton of fun.
That was a pretty wild Nintendo Direct absolutely stuffed full of incredible new content. And to get news about a new 2D Mario game seems a long time coming.
Let’s jump right in and see what has been cooking behind the scenes in the Mario universe.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the new title in the long line of 2D Super Mario Bros. games. And this new entry appears to have some of the most unique graphics and animations of any Mario experience we’ve had yet.
The aesthetic is as colorful and fun as you’d expect from a Mario game. And totally over the top, if we’re being honest.
As the name suggests, this game has a strong focus on fantasy and imagination in all aspects of the visuals and game play mechanics.
There are so many fun things in this new world like hand sliding on rails, changing into different shapes and characters, and entirely transforming your surroundings. It all looks like so much fun.
And of course, the really interesting new mechanic – the Wonder Seeds, which transforms an already colorful and exciting world into something even more stimulating.
In this new Super Mario Bros. title, you will be able to play as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and more. And the game offers solo or up to four player local co-op game play in this exciting new world.
Surely an easy future entry in our list of the best Mario multiplayer games to play with your friends.
Conclusions
Wow oh wow. Super Mario Bros. Wonder looks like a blast. It was actually quite hard to keep up with everything going on here, because there was just sooooo much.
This is a 2D Mario title for the ages. Needless to say Nintendo entirely outdid themselves with this one, and I absolutely cannot wait to dive into the world of Mario Wonder.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 20th, 2023.
