Ok, hear me out, because the first thing I thought when I read about Foxhollow is that it could finally write the wrong of the final battle. Video Game Esoterica posted a clip showing the recomp in action, and it's looking amazing. But it's the option for mods that's getting me excited here, including the fact that technically now, someone could rewrite the game's ending and create an actual battle with General Scales.
Ship of Harkinian has added so many new elements to Ocarina of Time that it's become a whole new entity entirely, and it got me thinking - if Star Fox Adventures is open to mods, could someone remove the rubbish ending with Andros and give us the battle we all deserved? I mean, it should have been Rare that did it, but when Microsoft bought them out, they didn't have time to create a good ending. The game suddenly felt a bit 'meh' when Andross appeared, but with the help of the modding community, that wrong could finally be righted.
Foxhollow is designed to give gamers as close a feel to the original title as possible (bugs and all), but you just know that people are going to start modding the original Dinosaur Planet character into the game or making Falco the main playable character.
Modding support is coming as soon as the team behind Foxhollow are happy that 'everything is stable,' so hopefully we won't have to wait long until we start seeing some wild and wonderful things happening in Lightfoor Village and SnowHorn Wastes. It's a Rare game, so someone needs to put Wozza the Walrus from Banjo-Kazooie and that damned Ice Key in there.
You'll need a legally acquired ROM of Star Fox Adventures to get the game up and running, and once added, the game will open up and run like a native port on PC or Mac without having to open up an emulator!
