Back when I was a kid in the 90s, two game characters were the talk of the playground - Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. They each had their own amazing games, and they were 'must-haves', titles that you just had to play and were missing out on if you hadn't checked them out. Spyro and Crash weren't just the PlayStation's poster boys... or poster animals, they were legends in their own right, and we all went crazy for them.

The dream would have been to see them starring in their own game, teaming up to take on the world together. It would have been the best kind of super group, like when people went mad for McFly and Busted teaming up together with McBusted. But, Sony kept them apart, for the most part, sticking in their own lanes and with their own adventures. I know Spyro was an unlockable character in CTR: Nitro Fueled, but with regards to a true, collaborative adventure, we were left disappointed.
A childhood dream finally realized, Crash Bandicoot in a PS1 Spyro game ‼️

This S3 recreation project not only brings Crash into Spyros world, but also introduces 4 player Co-op and a bunch of new features. Built using the "Spaghetti Spyro" UE Frameworkhttps://t.co/2GooFpVmcv pic.twitter.com/n7mUcE3IRZ
So, as always, when kids with dreams grow older and the big companies they looked up to never delivered, those same kids take matters into their own hands. The project comes from qtderg and brings both legendary PS1 characters into a co-op adventure for you and your other nerdy nineties friends to play together.

The demo built by qtderg allows for co-op playthrough of Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon and covers three levels - Sunrise Spring Home, Sunny Villa, and Sheila’s Alp. It's like an amalgamation of our childhood in one game, with Aku Aku gem collection, players like Coco joining the mix, items from Crash games in Spyro's domain, and much more.
How has qtderg made all of this, I hear you ask? Well, they've used Bunbaroness' Spaghetti UE4 framework. You can play local or online multiplayer with up to four players, as well as enter cheats. There's also a photo mode too! It's a demo that provides a 90s kid like me with so much joy, and hopefully, if you grew up with the PS1, it'll take you back to 'the good old days' too!
Check out the demo of the game in the comments of the YouTube video above!
