Gaming crossovers into the world of film and TV are all the rage at the minute, what with Fallout doing incredible numbers and Deadpool & Wolverine becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time (let’s not talk about Borderlands though, ok?). Fallout debuted on Amazon Prime, and the streaming platform has become increasingly more involved with the gaming scene ever since, with a live-action Tomb Raider series being rumoured to be coming soon after Fallout’s mammoth success.
It’s clear that Amazon is capitalising on the Retro Gaming theme, and we’re not angry about that. Heck, the more people who know about our favourite Retro Gaming greats, the better, which is why their new gaming anthology series ‘Secret Level’ has grabbed our attention. The first thing I saw about the show was a Tweet from the PAC-MAN Official profile showing what looked like a shiny-brass PAC-MAN floating next to a mysterious figure, with the sun shining behind a tower that kind of looked like PAC-MAN was devouring the stone structure. It’s all a little dark and not what I usually think about when I think of PAC-MAN, but then again, the guy does get chased by ghosts a lot, so maybe this is what it looks like inside his brain…
PAC-MAN Is just one of fifteen stories in the anthology, with other retro icons such as Mega Man, Kratos from God of War, Unreal Tournament, and more heading to Prime Video on the 10th of December 2024. Expect to see Armored Core, The Outer Worlds, Warhammer 40,000, Dungeons & Dragons, Concord, Exodus, New World: Aeternum, Sifu, Spelunky, and a selection of PlayStation games appearing in the animated series too.
