The PS1 had some great psychological horrors - Silent Hill, Koudelka, Galerians, to name but a few. We loved scaring ourselves silly back in the day, and now there's a chance for you to do it all over again with a new PS1 horror game for Windows, Montano Ranch.
The game created by In Entertainment arrived on Itch.io less than an hour ago at the time of writing, so it's hot off the press. The storyline - you inherit a ranch that you didn't know anything about from your grandfather. I know, more work that you didn't count on having to do! You have to harvest crops every day, but the cries from the forest send an eerie chill down your spine.

The gameplay looks very 90s, as it should, being a PS1-inspired title. It looks very creepy too, as you can see from the image below showing what looks like a dead body lying between some wheat piles. And the protruding scythe from the right side of the screen doesn't exactly give off 'family-friendly' vibes now, does it?

The red trees in the distance definitely give off that horror vibe, and the sparseness of some of the level areas creates a setting where there's nowhere to hide. You feel exposed, uncertain, two of the things needed for a psychological horror to do its job.
Montano Ranch is available to download for Windows for free. Head to Itch.io to check it out!
