If you've been a regular reader since the beginning of Retro Dodo, then you'll know all about Brandon's obsession with Pokémon Pinball. It holds a special place in his heart, kind of like Kirby's Pinball does for me, and you'll often find him testing it out on modded Game Boys and FPGA handhelds like the Chromatic/Pocket.

Pokémon Pinball Generations is the expansion to the original Pokémon Pinball that we never got. It comes to us from Rainbow Devs, who you'll most recently have heard of through the 3D version of Pokémon Brown that I covered recently here on the site. This ROM Hack adds to the original version of the game by bringing Gen 2 Pokémon in and upping the Pokédex to a total of 251 critters.

There's a new update that's just released, version 1.6, that brings some important fixes for saving functionality when playing on Flash Carts, and fixes broken mid-game saves. Ho-Oh's name has also been fixed, and the source files for the game have now been included.
One of the most impressive things about this hack is that you can experience it at 60 fps with zero lag. That makes travelling Johto in the new Gold & Silver fields much more enjoyable, with super smooth gameplay for every hit of your paddles and shot of your ball!

You'll be able to play Pokémon Pinball Generations on any handheld emulator, your iPhone, or on original hardware using a Flash Cart. Of course, you'll need a legally acquired ROM of Pokémon Pinball to patch this fan-made hack onto, and then you're good to go! Head to Rainbow Devs to download the latest version and get playing!
