If you're wondering what I've been up to recently, I've been putting as many hours as possible into the new Pokémon 3D Voxel Mod from Dramatic Shape. It's completely changed how I play the original Pokémon games and given them a whole new lease of life.

If you're wondering what this Mod is or how to download it, then you can check out my guide to get it up and running with your Pokémon Red or Blue ROM. Then, once you've checked it out, come back here and take a look at what's new!

Dramatic Shape has added a third-person camera view, sometimes known as a follow-behind camera, to give you that same kind of feel as you get with modern titles. It's so cool to have the camera following you as you move between 3D versions of the buildings in Kanto, buildings that we've all explored so many times in our lives since we first turned the game on on our Game Boy DMGs back in the 90s.

First-person view looks so cool too, although those flowers look a little like Pokémon who are waiting to take me on. That's technically as close as you'll ever get to being an original Kanto trainer, coming face-to-face with the Elite Four and the annoying grandpa that trains you how to catch a Caterpie.

Pinch to zoom has arrived on mobile, and here's another cool feature - camera control in battles. You can zoom in and out of the action when Pokémon are battling, getting up close and personal to the action or zooming out to see the whole playing field.

Dramatic Shape's Voxel Mod is a game changer. So many people on social media are raving about this mod, and rightfully so. It's easy to set up, runs on a number of devices including your Mac, and makes the original Pokémon adventure feel like a brand new game. That follow-behind camera is so awesome, and if Nintendo had made that a feature, the world would have lost its mind!
